Brick masonry has been around for thousands of years. Most bricks used in the construction of brick walls, patios, steps and foundations, are made of hard fired clay. Bricks come in many different colors and textures. The bricks themselves are extremely hard and durable, unfortunately the mortar holding them together is not. Mortar is a mixture of sand and cement, and is extremely porous. As water soaks into the mortar, then freezes and expands, the bricks are pushed apart and damaging cracks begin to form.Sealing your brick masonry will stop this water from penetrating and damaging the brick structure. The mortar mix is so porous that in a hard blowing rain, water can actually go completely through a brick wall. This can damage interior walls and set up a dangerous mold situation. Bricks found in horizontal applications such as the sidewalk to the left, are even more venerable to water damage. Brick sealing is actually very simple, cost effective and the professional grade brick waterproofing sealant products we use last for many years.

Driveway sealers and most acrylics are not breathable, and will often flake, peel, bubble or turn white if applied to bricks.
